    Supercharged?

Good point. I'll have to look into brake parts (if they're as easy as the LR3, I'll do them myself) and tire costs. I test drove a 2013 HSE and a 2012 autobiography and did not notice a difference in ride harshness. I'll have to pay attention to that.

    Supercharged?

Hi all, I'm looking at 2013 Range Rover Sports right now and I'm having trouble with which engine to focus on. Help me decide between the 375 hp 5L v8 or the 510 hp supercharged. I have an LR3, which I will still have, so either will be more power. As I was discussing this with my...

    Have you tried these tires?

I put 65K on my Yoko AT/S. Very quiet. I went with the 265/60/18 size (plus one basically). I would highly recommend them. I am due to replace them, and I would do the same tire without hesitation, but my Indie guy has an in with the Toyo distributor and he's convinced me to try the Toyo AT2...

    Transfer Case Leak

I haven't looked into all of the fluids you mention, but I know that the fluid is an ATF, NOT a gear oil. Our automatic, variable-locking center diff has different requirements than a standard transfer case. I am not sure I would use 85w140 or 75w90. By the way, mine leaks too :(

    The Notch

The Notch on Pole Hill trail overlooking Estes Park, Colorado. I saw a 6x6 and a Wrangler Rubicon at the top, and a brand new 4Runner with a nervous driver on his way up. Nice moderate trail with great views. I also did Pierson Park trail. Also a good trail that offers a good balance for a...

How did it go? I think there may have been a black D2 from Chicago there this weekend too.

    Spark Plug Job

I just finished this up. It's quite simple. It took me under two hours. Remove the heat shield on the drivers side. On the pass side remove the air box/intake hose, flying saucer looking vent on top of the valve cover, and unclip the heater hoses so that you can move them around. I used two 3...

    Flags

Are you going to the badlands in Indiana? You might be able to get a door mount one at the badlands. It sits on the door top and when you close the door it stays in place. Otherwise, duct taping a flag pole to the taillights is a decent no-drill option.

    Spark Plug Service

So I guess I'm confused. I have the technical manual... It indicates that the coil packs will pull out as CMG suggests. Then I am assuming the plugs just pull out of the coil packs? Or are they threaded in? Either way, it becomes a bench job to get them out, in which case extensions etc don't...

    Spark Plug Service

I am coming up on 90K miles (100 miles to go!), so its time to figure out the spark plugs. I believe the recommended service time is 90K. I will go with the stock plugs. Not sure where I'll get them yet, but I can do some searching on that. I have 3 questions on this: How difficult is...

    Another Battery Question

I got the interstate mtp93. It was 10 degrees F today when we started the vehicle and no issues. I may go get it tested to see if the numbers are at 100% but all looks good

    Another Battery Question

So far so good. A few 25 degree mornings and no error messages. It'll be 7 degrees F tomorrow. That'll be the real test.

    Another Battery Question

Oh, and the terminals are surgical clean, so no worries there. Thanks for the heads up tho

    Another Battery Question

I made some calls and looked online. I focused on the Interstate brand... Their website and the 2 places I called recommended a 720 CCA battery MTP-H8, but the one in there is an 850 CCA battery MTP-93. I am going to pick up the 850 amp one. I don't think 720 is enough. I'm having issues at...

    Another Battery Question

Brake light bulbs are original. Little known fact is that he tail lights are the same bulb as the brake lights. Both have a dual filament. When my brake lights went out (I actually didn't notice until both we out!) I just swapped the bulbs around. I didnt even remember until I just searched my...

    Another Battery Question

I think its about time to replace my battery, but I wanted to ping the collective and get your thoughts. This winter has been very mild, but on the coldest days so far (10-20 deg F), my LR3 will throw error messages on screen for a brief moment at start-up. I think if we had a typical Chicago...

Tips from My "DIY Oil Change"

I am a huge fan of DIY oil changes. They are so cheap when I do it myself, and over time you accumulate tools and pattern to help make it a very fast job. I typically change the oil and rotate the tires in about 30-45 minutes. The best part is that includes some up close and personal time...

Coolant Leak - Easy Fix - Check Yours!

Very nice. I remember that thread because of the bic pen trail fix, but never really paid attention to it. Thanks for posting it! Now I need to take another peak to be sure I didn't crack it :)

Coolant Leak - Easy Fix - Check Yours!

It really wasn't fluctuating much at all. Maybe 200 RPM. Things do seem smoother. There was a bit of varnish and soot in there. Its worth cleaning if you're doing other stuff. But the real win is that I discovered the leak!

    Anti-Freeze

Yes. Havoline/Texaco XLC I believe is also Dex-Cool. If you look at auto parts stores or even Walmart, it should be there. They'll have maybe one or two facings of it versus more of the green stuff.

Coolant Leak - Easy Fix - Check Yours!

So another thread on here talks about fluctuating tach. Mine had been doing that ever so slightly, and so after seeing someone recommend cleaning the throttle body, I thought duh, I haven't ever done that. With 85K miles I figured it was time. That went swimingly, but in inspecting under the...

    Anti-Freeze

I believe the coolant is the GM brand Dex-Cool. The proper mix is 50/50 mixed with distilled water. I know that a lot of people don't like Dex-Cool - especially that it corrodes... In my D2 (which also uses Dex-Cool), the drain and fill cycle is 2 years. In the LR3, the recommend is 10...

    LR3 Transfer Case Noise

Here are the fluid specs, but I got mine from the dealer. You can get a pump at any auto parts store and drain and fill the fluid yourself (plugs are hex heads, though - many people do not have hex sockets). Specifications Sealers and Lubricants * CAUTION: Do not use any lubricant other...
