Just finished installing the sliders from Rover Specialties. I went for the option 2, slim. The whole install took me about 6 hours. If I can get them installed with my 13 year old son's help, anyone should be able to do it. I wouldn't say it was easy, but it wasn't hard either. Oh, and I think they look pretty good too, can't wait to try them out!

Foul. You can't say they look pretty good and then not post pictures.
Congrats on the purchase and welcome to the club. I've got the regular stage 2 version myself, and love them. (And now the obligatory picture.)

Yes, not to hard. After the initial install it is much easier once you know how.

If you have to take them off for something it will probably take you less then 2 hours to put them back on.

Takes me about an hour now to do it after a couple times.

OK, fair enough about the pics, these are from the garage, but this will give you an idea of how far the slims stand off.

Ken ,would you say that , it is easy to stand on them and load the roof with doors closed or should they be open for more secure step , i am trying to choose between stage 2 and 3 as they have steel plate under tubes providing additional foot slip protection if one occurs. It is hard to tell if regular sliders are really a better choice then slims in real off -roading situations.
I am really thorn witch one to choose.

I would say if you need a good step, go with the reglar standoffs. Having seen them on another truck, its a very easy step to stand on while loading. With the slims, you can still get the ball of your foot on there without opening the door. I guess the option 3 with the plate underneath woould help if you slip.

I'm not sure I agree. It is my opinion that the point of the the Option 3's is to slide over items a bit better, due to the solid plating. It would not benefit someone standing on top of the tube, unless perhaps you are wearing 3" heals, and position your foot just so.

The choice between the various configurations has more to do with the type of terrain you find yourself in most often. Those in wooded areas tend to like the Option 2 or 3's for the hefty standoff's. Those in abundantly rocky areas prefer the Opt2Slims, or even the Option 1's like what I am using, for maximum side height clearance. Snow & Mud more your style? In those conditions, some like the Option 3's, as they sort help the truck glide across :)

Personally, I think the Opt 2 Slims is the most versatile combination, but then, I am rather tall and don't need the tubes to access the truck or roof.
