Hi all,

New to this forum. Recently bought my wife a lightly used 2015 LR4 Lux. We have three kids, 6, 4 and 2. The two oldest like to sit in the 3rd row and we have the 2 yo behind my wife in the second row.

We started out with the middle seat folded down and the kids would just climb over the top which they thought was fun (mom, not so much). The short of it is that I just removed the middle seat in the second row. Wow, what a difference. Not sure why JLR didn't make this easier like Honda does with the Odyssey my wife came out of, but glad it's gone.

It was really easy, just six bolts. Two in the front of the seat and 4 in the back (two on each side in the rear).

I also just got our weathertech mats, which covers about 50% of the new floor space where the middle seat once was. My plan is to get a larger size rubber front floor mat and cut it to fit the space so it doesn't look odd.

I've seen a few posts on here about it and just wanted to let everyone know how easy it was to do.

I assume you had been able to lower the second floor seats to make a flat floor. Only mention this because our (new to LR) dealer did not know how to pull on the strap while pushing the seat down.

Lgibson,

It doesn't fold flat when you do that, it just lowers down to provide a single level flat surface when all seats are folded down. With the two outside seats in place and the middle seat "lowered" to its lowest position, it's still an obstacle. Removing the middle seat is way better. There is no comparison. We have a Britax car seat in the outboard seat behind the driver's seat so the middle seat was totally useless anyway. So much more functional as a 6 pass with quad capt chairs.

Umbertob,

Was up in the mountains all day today building snow caves with my girls so haven't got around to pics. I'll post a few but give me a few days to come up with a floor mat solution that looks good.

Could you post pictures of the post-mod interior?

I took my middle seat out. We put a cooler and soon an ARB Fridge there. I have the aux battery (traxxide kit) in and ready to power it.

I bought some angled tie down brackets which I will put back into the seat mount locations for the fridge tie down straps.
