Just to add what Chongo says above... the codes will clear themselves after a set number of cycles if no codes happen again... but in your case I don't think there was enough time for the codes to clear themselves.

As far as cleaning the MAF, make sure you remove it from the vehicle to clean it... and MAF cleaner can be found at most auto parts stores.

The Family Handyman, April 2007

Recommendation is to use "CRC Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner" on the MAF everytime the air filter is changed. By their testing, it seems to be the only thing that worked...available at CarQuest, Advance, and O'Reilly auto part warehouses for about $7.

Incidentally, WD-40, Brake Cleaner, Carb Cleaner, Snot, and type-O blood will not clean a MAF:)

If the light came on just after a gas change, I would highly suspect a plugged up fuel filter. Other things that come to mind that will turn on the light after fueling are a gas cap that isn't tightened down or a gummed-up fuel pump.

An easy test would be to have a fuel pressure test. Wouldn't it have been wonderful if LR had installed fuel and oil pressure gauges?

well...cleaned the MAF, definately could feel an improvement in performance yet same issues regarding "shudder" remain. Got the disco to a more detailed code reader...front and rear oxygen sensors faulty on bank 2...misfire on one of the cylinders bank 2. looks like i'm due for two new sensors and new plugs. as this is my daily driver...can i install the new plugs prior to the sensor replacement? or will i simply foul more plugs that way. would new plugs give the sensors a few more days of life? (ie till payday)

On a 03 Disco if you are having O2 sensors failing, I would be wondering why. Plugs could be the issue, could be the type of fuel your running (always run the highest octane you can buy, notice I didn't say afford).

Remember if the front O2 sensors are driving too many miles while bad it will eventually cause issues with the CATS.

I think the issues began with the air quaility...on top of plugs needing changed, fouled a plug which in-turn fouled O2 number 1. The codes i'm pulling are...

P0150 - O2 circuit (generic) bank 2, number 1
P0159 - 02 circuit slow response, bank 2, number 2
P0174 - system too lean
P0302 - Cylinder 8 Misfire detected

Seems at the minumum, I should change plugs and O2 circuit number 1...then see if the number 2 throws a code after that...does that make sense?
