I had my DRLs programmed, it was a half hour job at $75 bucks. Very simple and some others have gotten it done for free. Nothing complex, didn't affect anything else.

BTW, reading through this thread about the corner LEDs is crazy! I love mine, but I don't have the signature lighting though.

OK 2011 LR4 folks....... the verdict is out........

The side light that our 2010 LR4 friends have been replacing with an LED bulb is not found in the 2011. I just took everything apart and found that there is actually NO way to put a bulb into this bay that has a small silver ball cap on it. It's not even a light socket, it's just a piece of metal with nothing else but that silver ball. It looks like everything is there, except for the actual electric wiring and socket where the bulb would go. They have replaced it with just a metal cover that has a hole in it where that silver ball is snapped into place.

So, those of us with the 2011 LR4 get the awesome LED accent lights, but we don't have any side lights - they were removed for some very odd reason. Personally, I think this is so strange, but oh well. Even so, the lights still look awesome!

I am wondering if there is some rule about how many lights you can have on a vehicle?

Sorry everyone...... I'll be sending my LED lights back to Amazon tomorrow.

Have a great evening.

-David.

I agree ... this is typically the case ... it appears the the LR bean counters swizled options / features to squeeze as much as they can out of their customers. Really, charging $75 for a cable that costs a few bux (for 2011) ... not giving signature lighting for 2010 non-lux .. even thought the lights LOOK like they have them and all the photos show them on! I was duped with that one, oh well ... I still love the truck nonetheless.
Hey Tim,

This really confused me, as I saw you and baobay's pictures and wondered why the signature LED lighting was not on? It looked like you had it on your lights - I have no idea why they did not include it across all LR4s like with the 2011 models. These weird changes to years are so strange!!!

Hey David, I went though the signature lighting mystery with LRNA. Although it looks like the little LEDs are there and would work, if one was to look inside the light assembly from the back, you'll see that the little LEDs are blanks with no hardware. I was bummed by this because as you note for 2010 HSE you don't get signature lighting. Now, as for the LED corner light, I'm assuming this was excluded on the signature lighting assemblies because it was lighting overkill. Maybe it didn't look right ascetically. And as for your blank, it would cost a ton to get retooling done for a new mold, and LR probably just decided to blank it out or leave the non- signature lighting open for odd markets like Russia where they actually offer a stripped down non-leather LR4 model with black plastic wheel arch covers just like the older LR3s. Anyway, those are my theories. Your research is very valuable and thank you for sharing.

Hey everyone,

Hope you all had a good weekend. I am wondering about the lights on the side, the ones behind the yellow plastic that come on when you turn the dial to the side indicator lights. I would imagine those of us with 2011 LR4s can turn these on if you want a DRL type effect. What do others think? Anyone ever try to replace these lights with LEDs?

Here is something interesting to note too: My 2010 LR4 HSE LUX has the signature LEDs around the high/low beams, but has the silver ball type thing on the side lights everyone is trying to replace. I was looking in there to see how much of that light showed from the outside and all I can see is the silver ball.

The side lights behind the yellow/amber cap on the door uses a similar wedge buld everyone is trying here but needs to be smaller in size as there isn't as much room in there for the replacement from amazon.

I seems like Land Rover eliminated the side marker lights in LR4s with the signature lighting in both 2010 (LUX) and 2011 models (LUX and non LUX).

Hey Rob,

Thanks for the information. I have not been able to find an LED bulb to replace the bulb you describe behind the yellow/amber plastic on the most distal side of the right and left headlight units. Plus, I think that just comes on when you specifically turn the dial to the sIde lights mode. I don't believe they come on during normal low beam/LED accent light operation.

I will say that the other day I had to pick someone up at night and I saw my lights (lows, LED accent, and fogs) on in a building's glass reflection and the CV upgrades look awesome! The pattern of the 3 lights together and pure white light is great looking.

Regards, David

Do the LED accent lights stay on when the lows are on and switched to auto?

Hello LRnewbie11,

Yes, the LED accent lights go on whenever the low beams go on when the dial is set to auto mode. The normal headlight configuration on auto is low beams and LED accent lights. Are you doing your CV upgrades this week?

Let us know how it goes!
