I'm running Compo 18" wheels on my 2011 LR4 that were installed by the PO sometime in 2017-2018. I've been having serious wear issues with tires (my last set of 5 Wildpeaks lasted 19k miles) and my trusted tire shop tells me it's because all four wheels are bent. I'm not doing serious wheeling, and neither was the PO as far as I heard. Anyone else had this issue? Any way I can tell if they are actually bent? I haven't noticed anything inspecting them or while driving. If they are bent I'm going with TerraFirma steelies while they are on sale at Atlantic British. Thanks!

Pretty hard to believe all four wheels are bent. You’d probably feel a bent wheel. But you should also be able to see it pretty easily. Jack it up (one at a time or all four) and rig-up a makeshift runout gauge - just any kind of pencil or other stick held close to the rim. Spin it and watch the gap. If the wheel is bent, you should be able to see it pretty easily. More likely the alignment is off than the wheels are bent.

Unexpected tire wear is typically 2 things
1 wrong air pressure
2 dire need of alignment.

Use the tire pressure calculator link I posted in some other threads and compare what you calculate to what you have set.

When is the last time you had an alignment?

I’m with @jlglr4 , that would be pretty rare that you have 4 bent rims…. And even so, such premature tire wear? It doesn’t add up. 4 worn wheel bearings, maybe??

Good feedback both of you, thanks!

Wear is on the outside edge of tires. I should have mentioned that I’m running 265/65/18s with 2” lift rods and I’m sure some of the wear is associated with the lift, even with an alignment.

So with uneven wear maybe not tire pressure, but I will check the tire pressure links on the forum and make sure I’m running appropriate pressure. I’m just at stock right now.

I’ve gotten two alignments in the last 4K miles. One at 15k with my last tires, the most recent a few weeks ago when I put new tires on. During both alignments wheels were significantly out of spec.

Wheel bearings are an interesting hypothesis. I’ll need to look into that more. Rears are original to the vehicle I think, and that’s where I’m seeing the most tire wear.

There is zero way anyone can bend those wheels. They’re tough as nails, and cast. They’d break.

You have a bad alignment, and are running +2, so it’s possible you are simply out of enough adjustment. These trucks always wear the outside edge, even stock.

If you’re riding in extended mode often, and it sounds like it…. are you getting the alignment done whilst the vehicle is lifted?

Running with a 2” lift requires an alignment adjustment.

But also allow me to add, I have no such issues on my vehicle. Mind you I do not have a lift. I don’t need it as if I need additional lift, I go into extended off road height with my trusty 2x4 I keep in the back.

The 2x4 is used to lower the car onto and trick the system intro raising you further?

19k miles out of a set of tires isn't suspect to me, but the wear pattern is what matters.
