Honestly, for the cost, I'd try and sell yours as a fixer and just get another used one. In the end you're going to come out WAY ahead. That said, these things tend to sit for a while as fixers. However, a low mileage 2016 will probably only run you $15-$16K. So, you'll already be $3K ahead of the replacement. And as others have said, the SCV6 was a fairly trouble free platform for JLR, so I wouldn't be too worried about a used one...especially if they have service records to go with it.

The chain was definitely loose. I was able to see and push it through the oil cap.

This was the image that they said was the most telling. Here were the words of the service advisor, "On this you can see the gapping is off and there is a chunk out of the bottom piece"



That and the sound it was making were their determining factors.

Ah, now I can see the damage. Aside from the chip, the valve is bent too. Looking at the shadow in the gap the valve looks like it won't line up to seal. Once your remain is in there, the engine will breath new life.
