I have a 2006 LR4 with 126,000 and after I drive the truck for more than 15 minutes, turn it off and then restart it, I get the three amigos. If I wait for it to cool down, 1-2 hours, no warning lights.
I have done a transmission service, new alternator, battery is good. It seems as if something is getting hot and creating the codes. I can drive it for as long as I want but when I shut is off and try to restart before it cools off, I get the codes.
Any insite on this problem would be great.

does the code just appear when you start the car or does it trigger when you try to use the shifter. if it comes on right when you start the car then it sounds electrical.

Does the transmission shift into gear despite the code? If it doesn’t then it could be the bridge seal and mechatronic sleeves in the transmission which tend to get bridle, dry up, and create an internal leak when the transmission is warm and fluid is less viscous.

Also, you might want to try the LR3 sub, I'm pretty sure no LR4s in 2006... :) but we have some great expertise here anyways. Good Luck!

I get the codes just turning the key on, when it runs the systems check. It runs and drives just fine except for that it lowers its self, and makes driving it no fun.
The first thing the display says is; HDC fault, 2nd display is ; systems fault, special programs not available, the third display is; special programs off. I start it and put it into gear and start driving and it lowers it self.
I'm thinking it could be the TCM, but I don't want to start throwing money at it.

Aren't HDC and special programs ABS related? I thought lowering would happen due to suspension faults.

It’s all related, suspension will lower, transmission fault will display, no special programs or HDC, traction control, the whole system will shut down when there is some type of wiring issue.

A couple of years ago I got a subwoofer installed and while routing the positive cable through the fire wall to the battery the installer accidentally pulled a tiny wire related to the brake switch in my truck causing the whole system to go into limp mode over 40 MPH. Turn off the truck and restart it and it would all go back to normal.

Seems like your issue is definitely related to the truck doing a system check once you turn off and on the truck again. When you “let the car cool down” the system probably resets itself and the issue goes away but when you turn it off and back on it probably runs a quick system check which causes the fault.

I would guess it’s a wiring issue or a sensor before a module. Taking into account that in order to turn the truck on and off you need to put it in and out of park, and since the code resides to the transmission shifter I would start there.

I’m not an expert on this stuff, maybe someone else who has a bit more knowledge can chime in and correct me?

That is a good point. It would be in the shifter somewhere. I will research that.
