If the 02 sensor had wiring issues, the DTC would be listed as a circuit fault. P0430 is not a circuit fault.

I broke down and bought a new catalytic converter. My recommendation is to shop around and try to get your local dealer to match the price. Dealers in Virginia Beach and San Jose had the best prices, $3k plus $500 core. My local dealer wanted $4.5 plus core. Sales clerk tried to get the parts manager to match, but they couldn't/wouldn't.

I'll say that the purchase experience from Virginia Beach was odd, but fine. A little slow to ship, about a week between the order and a tracking number. First catalytic converter they sent me didn't look great. There was loose ceramic material inside, both ends were slightly damaged, and a small dent was present in the elbow of it. I let them know and heard nothing for a week. Called and was told that another catalytic converter was going in the mail that day with a shipping label for the old core and the bad unit. This is overall better service than I expected, but the communication was non-existent.

Did the new cat resolve the problem?
