Bought the car used w/ 15K on it. Not sure how to tell if I have a rear locker. I know they all come equipped with a center lock, but how do I know if I have a rear locker? When I am in off-road display mode on the GPS screen I have an open lock on my rear, but it never shuts like the center one does. The car is more than capable without it I know, but just wondering if I have it or not.

They're about the same capability wise, just the locker one might get the job done a bit easier, but they'll be very close.

If you have a full size alloy spare rim/tire, then you have it.

They are not in any way similiar, if you have an Lr3 with the H.D option, you will have a full size spare tire, a center diff, your t/case and a rear locker.
Look and see what you have for a spare.

Not in any way similar? :stupid:
I'd say they're pretty freakin' close to the same, with the locker things might be a little easier, that's all....

So basically the only way to tell if I have a rear locker would be to see if I have a full size alloy spare? There has got to be a more solid way of telling.

with the H.D option, you will have a full size spare tire, a center diff, your t/case and a rear locker.

Would there be an obvious visual difference from underneath the car?? Does anyone have a picture of what one with a locker would look like?

I don't have the HD package myself, but I always thought there was a wiring harness of some sort leading into the rear diff. Houm are you out there? You have the rear locker don't you?

Call your Rover dealer's service dept. and have them run the vin., they can tell you for sure.

I believe that there is an electrical connection to the differential (someone correct me if I'm wrong) if it is a locker. You are right, the full size spare is a nice indicator, but proves nothing as prev. owner could have just picked one of those up.

You could also call a dealer with your VIN and ask em...

I'm not exactly sure why Mike pointed out that you would have a center diff and a t/case??
