96 Disco. 89k. I can't pass NYS Inspection with "check engine" on. OBDII shows PO460 - which from what I could find on the net is "Fuel Level Sensor Circuit Malfunction". My fuel pump and fuel gauge work. What is this??? My mechanic said the light will continue to come on until I replace the fuel pump. I could spend $200 and install it myself but why??? Any thoughts on this?

Sounds like some corrosion on the wiring going to the pump... if anything. could also be a bad gas cap.

Access panel is in the boot (the trunk area) just pull up carpet and you can't miss it. I would bet the gas cap. If you don't turn it enough clicks it will set off a code.

Try reseting the code after making sure you are full of gas and the cap is tight.
