Noob with emblem question

Hey im a new LR3 owner I jus purchased a 2005 LR3 with 45,000 miles I got it for 14,500 and was curious why my emblem was black and not the traditional green which is located on the back and on the front grill...what is the difference between the black logo and green and also my car is all black on black..appreciate all replies

Black ovals have a historic origin, and are used by the factory to designate a Special Vehicle.

Since I had one of the very few LR3's to be designated as such, I suspect yours just means someone bought stickers off eBay and stuck 'em on.

Hey nwoods my LR has the black ovals wat is a special projects vehicle bc mine dont look like they are adhesive they look like the original owner purchased the car this way my LR3 is an 05'

With regards to LR3's, I can think of only a couple:
- an authentic G4, which I'm not sure ever existed in north america, though I dimly remember maybe seeing one in storage at PAG in California before they relocated LRNA back to the east coast

- one of the 2 dozen (or so) Nevada Passage vehicles (NA G4 qualifier event)

- one of the 27 pre-production 2005 models brought into the county in 2004 to figure out trim packages and configuration options (mine was one if these). I don't think most of these, if any had the black oval. Mine was personally bestowed the oval by PAG's special projects director after the fact.

There might be others, this is not an informed, authorative, nor exhuastive list, just a deducement from what ive seen.

Black oval = special vehicle, created or modifed by Land Rover for a specific purpose. VERY limited production, if any. Usually very unique and distinctive for one reason or another.

Green oval = everything else.
