GY DuraTrac or Toyo Open Country A/T

im currently in the market for new A/T tires for my LR3. im in colorado and do some off-roading during the weekends up at oldstage road and other trails. im currently on Nitto Terra Grapplers. they are ok for DD but slip to much on the trails out here. anyways, im just back and forth on what tire to go with. any suggestions or reccommendations> any one have any experience with either tire on both trail and highway? thanks in advance

I used to run the Toyo's. Traction-wise they are not much different than your Nitto's.
Dura-tracs have a more aggressive tread. The Toyo's @ 285/60-18 do not require the rod mod. If you go with the Dura-trac @ 275/65-18 I suggest some type of rod modification especially if you are going to run them full time. It all comes down to what kind of trails you will be running and how often you run them.

DT's for sure. I have had my DT's since May and have wheeled them all summer in the Mtn's. I live in the Springs and can't wait for some snow runs with these tires.

Nathan - I've ran the AT's on my F250 and wasn't as impressed as I am w/ the DT's. The DT's seem to have a softer compound and are less prone to stiffen up due to temperature. Yes, I'm going back 15 or so years for the AT experience, but I don't think the AT formula has changed all that much since then. Both vehicles are roughly the same weight so I feel safe in making the comparison.

Size. Most of tfese tires don't come in the skinny 29" diameter of the stock Crapyears, so fitting chains is problematic in upsized tires. Not enough clearance between inner sidewall and upper front suspension arm.
