Hey everyone... Just pulled the trigger last tuesday on a 05 LR3 with 42k on the clock. Overall my impressions are high but I do have a couple concerns. The only reason I purchased this 05 was because it came with a warrantee till 2011 or 100k.... Anyway.. the 2 problems that have occurred so far are the leaking windshield... (leaking on the sides of the windshield pillars and a drip or two from the top by the visors. Mainly water was leaking out of the airbag hole on the side pillars and also dripping down the side of the car on the inside.

Second problem is that I cant get the rear parking sensors to work. They will never indicate that there is something behind me when backing up...

Any advise on these issues would be appreciated before I go talk to the goofballs at the dealership...

I included a picture of her first wash with me.... a fresh bucket wash and griots rubber cleaner on the plastic trim.... then used the griots spray on wax... and finished with the griots vinyl & rubber dressing on the trim... Cleaned up nicely... cant wait for next sprint to remove all the swirl marks! O btw I am a bit OCD....

Loving the Rover! My other vehicles are -

02 VW Passat Wagon GLX
01 BMW M5

Welcome Aaron!

I just wanted to say hello.

I have no experience with any of those problems, sorry.

Your rover looks brand new. Good job cleaning it up.

Aaron,
Congratulations on the purchase.
As fro the problems:
-The sunroof drains are probably backed up. Pretty common, we see it alot here and there are 17 different threads regarding sunroof leaks. You may be able to cure this yourself.
-If I was to guess, somehow the module lost it's programming, that's probably going to require a visit, as the car is packed full of electronics and not very user-repair friendly. The only other suggestion is to trace the harness in the back to the connector, and be sure of connectivity, but in all reality, if the programing is right, it should sense disconnect as a fault.

Goofball - and an Owner.
If your dealership has goofballs who are inept, please report it to the GM of the store, and by all means find someone willing to give good service for good money.
Whatever the line of work, we are all trying to make an honest lliving.

Ha... Sorry about the quick dig on the dealer... just knowing from experience that the guys over at BMW dont know half of what I do on my car when I take it in... Havnt taken the rover to the service department at my dealership yet... probably shouldn't judge em till I do.
Thanks for the input on the windshield leak... I have read alot on the forum already about those leaks and am trying to decide what to do about it. In your experience what is the usual cause of those leaks? I assume its my drains because the water was coming out of the side mostly and dripping out of the "Airbag" tab on the pillar.

Sunroof drains should be a warranty issue also the back up signal. Get to know your local LR dealer and the GM at the dealer.

No problem on the dig, I understand. We have our days around here, where we are our own worst enemy, just like any other occupation. Again, as a professional in the industry, I stand by: if they can't handle the pressure, move up the tree, and get satisfaction. Moving on:
You could fool with the drains as noted, but if you have warranty coverage and are headed in anyway for the PDC, see if the service department can handle it for you. From what I've seen come through, drains are an issue, followed by glass adjustment, in some cases there is a poor glass seal, and the service part was replaced with a new # with a larger diameter seal.

Talked to the GM of service today and will take it by next week... anything else I should check out on the rig while its going in? Any other common problems? Gonna try and get the service history and see what's been done on it.

Aaron,

I had a couple of issues, that maybe you should look for;
1) Open the sunroof and take a look at the arms that push the sunroof back. Mine have several cracks in the arms and this is my second one.
2) A/C farts. That's what it sounded like. When I would turn on the A/C it would make a farting noise (no smell). That was fixed and no problem since.
