Sorry, my TB cleaning procedure was:

1) Call shop, make appointment
2) Deliver LR3 on appropriate date
3) Wait, repeat #3 until done
4) Pay too much, but still worth it
5) Enjoy more performance and better MPG!

Yeah - my dad's a tv repairman, he's got an awesome set of tools. I'll probably try your procedure.

A quick search online and there is a good youtube video on cleaning both the throttle body and MAF sensor.

My MAF was replaced and throttle body cleaned under warranty but I have both cleaners in the garage now so that I can clean both from time to time.

I would at least pick up a MAF sensor cleaner and try that if you are out of warranty. You just pull the connecting plug and remove a couple torx screws. The sensor sits right on top. You spray it with the cleaner, let dry, screw into place and plug it in!

Update:
Thanks all for the info. Saved myself $300+ at my indy shop, instead followed the YouTube video steps for cleaning the MAF sensor and Throttle Body ($13 in sprays from Auto Zone). Error messages have gone away, and I'm getting about 2 add'l MPG around town, with no hesitation when starting from stop. I did it, which means pretty much anyone can do it.
