Hi all
I can’t make up my mind if my Discovery 3 has a leak or not. It’s a 2006 with 51K on the clock, when I reverse into my parking space at work the rear passengers wheel clips the pavement, on doing so makes a noise, I cant make up my mind if it’s the rubber tyre making the noise or if there is an air leak from the air suspension.
What should I be looking for?, has anyone else had this problem?, and how easy is it to replace the air units?
The suspension doesn’t seem to go down when its parked overnight, perhaps I should leave it until something obvious shows, or take it in for someone else to look at.
I did a brief search on this but couldn’t find anything on it.
Thanks for any help offered.
Best wishes,
Michael

If you are not losing air while parked overnight I would say there is no leak. What do
you mean by "clipping your wheel on the pavement"?

Hi Duckdive
Thanks for your help, what I mean by clipping the wheel is as I reverse into my parking space I have to run over the corner of the pavement and in doing so it makes a sound like rubber, rubbing on the kerb, and the sound of air escaping, I can’t be a 100% sure its air, the suspension doesn’t seem to be leaking overnight although its driven on a daily basis.
I hope this makes sense, I will try and get mu colleague to look at it whilst I drive over it or get him to try and get it to make the noise.
Thanks again for your help
Best Wishes

Sounds like maybe your tire should be reseated on the rim. It might be air squeezing out of the bead when it deforms because of the curb. Or perhaps some other problem with the tire? I'd get the tire checked out ASAP.

Hi Duckdive and nwoods
Thanks for the advice, I have managed to solve the issue, as suggested nwoods it was due to the tyre pressures being a bit on the low side, as the wheel was hitting the curb it was causing the tyre to deform and let some air out.
Since I have inflated the tyres to the required pressures I haven’t had this issue.
Thanks for your help
Best wishes
Michael
