ABS and Winch choice question

I have a 2000 Discovery II with ACE and I have 2 questions:

Winch suggestions-hydraulic or electric-any thoughts; and my ABS/TC/Hill descent warning lights would come on whenever they wanted to, sometimes right on start up, other times well into a drive. Now they come on and stay on all the time. Any suggestions as to what to look for?

Winch, I like Hydraulic, but if the engine is not running you don't go anywhere... so if I were to install on an off road vehicle I would go Electric.
