I have these tabs on my LR3. I have grown to like them. They're great for holding parking meter receipts and temporary permits.

My LR4 doesn't have them. I suspect they were lost when someone replaced the windshield on the car prior to my ownership.

Are these easy for me to remove from my LR3 and swap over to the LR4, or can it only be done during windshield removal? Don't want to break them, but would like to keep them...

I never had those on my 2006 Sport or 2013 LR4. Were they standard issue on the LR3?
They were standard on my 2005. I hope they didn't get rid of them.
I think most North American owners didn't know what they were for, but the need to put tickets there was more common in the UK.
It ends up being a very convenient holder. Nothing ever slides down in the dash, it's visible by parking attendants or rangers.

So, anyone know if I can just pop 'em out?

I suppose that doesn't mean that you couldn't install them, I never really looked to see how they were attached on the LR3.

Bummer. Thanks for the feedback.

Well, since I still have my LR3, I'll give them a hard twist/tug and see if they are removable. I suppose it was a cost cut as it was a feature of the car that nobody in the states really noticed.

Neither our 08 LR3 or 08 RR has this, but out Saab does. Although I could come up with potential uses for it, I was never really sure what its intended purpose was. I have never used it, and I have pulled ******* it to remove it, but it would not budge, so it is still there. It does not seem like it is removable, at least on the Saab. Let us know if you get it off and how it was attached, I might try again if I can remove it without causing any damage.

Uses, for the curious...

  • Around us, if you pay at parking stations (not via phone) you get a meter receipt that has to be displayed. It's great for that.
  • Any time I'm staying at a rental and they give you a non-hang tag parking pass, it goes there.
  • I'll occasionally drive in off-road areas where I get a temporary non-sticker permit. It goes there.
  • And any time I leave notes on my vehicle, "If you need me to move this, call this number." etc.

Those little parking receipts, though. Those are the kicker. They are so small and thin I used to have them slide down behind the dash! Ahhh, well. I'll learn to live without the clips.
