2015 LR4 battery maintainer for 6 month storage

I purchased a 2015 LR4 which will be parked in the garage 6 months out of the year. I purchased a NOCO battery maintainer to keep the battery charged. Since this LR4 as the aux. battery does it need to be hooked up to the maintainer also, or to a secondary maintainer? thanks, john

I wasn't aware of an auxiliary battery, not saying it doesn't exist. I just charge my starter battery and keep it topped off. This is how I do it, but with a 60AMP charger:

The V8 only has one battery. OP has the V6, which needs the second battery for the start/stop system.

I think the aux battery would discharge in storage the same as the main. If both batteries are identical type and chemistry (IE AGM vs flooded cell), I suspect you could have one trickle charger feed both. On the other hand, if they're different, you'd probably want separate chargers.

I don't know if the 2 batteries are isolated... but, a "splitter" can be used to allow 1 charger / maintainer to work with multiple separate batteries. Splitters as shown below isolate each battery so it won't matter if they are different types / sizes / chemistries.

Interesting that we all have different solutions.
Not only my vehicles, but certainly my sailboat lays up for a long time. And I i’ve been doing this for decades..

I do not use a maintainer. The reason is that it masks the health of the battery by providing a false interpretation if you do not allow the battery to rest prior to the reading.

So, i disconnect the negative terminal, and fully charge the battery.

It always lasts 6 months.

I like the PulseTech Xtreme Charge because it has full-time desulfation, which conditions and extends battery life. I'm averaging around 10-12 years lifespan (with AGM), and had a couple make it to 18-20 years (far longer than expected)!

for anything more than 90 days i would just install a battery turn off switch.

agreed @ttforcefed . My wrench is a cheap and lazy replacement for that. And I would still ensure the battery is fully charged before leaving it.
