'13 will lose power and die after a quick stop

Ok, so I'm hoping someone here can point me in the right direction. My '13 LR4 has 175k on the clock, but runs great. No major issues, and all preventative services have been done. However, every once in a while, it will just up and die on me. Usually it's after a short shut down, like filling up gas. I'll head to pull out of the parking lot and hit the accelerator, and instead of revving up, it just dies. Usually I can get it fired right back up, and it will run rough for a bit, usually a foul smell or spoiled eggs accompanies the restart (seems flooded). I've found that giving it a good WOT tends to bring it back to acting right.

My mechanic doesn't have a clue, there are no codes thrown, and everything looks fine on his diagnostic. It also doesn't happen that often, maybe 2-3 times a month. I've done some searching around, but can't find someone with a similar issue. Anyone got any ideas?

This happened to me. I chased it FOREVER but a new purge valve assembly fixed it

Agree - check the purge valve. Might also be liquid fuel in your charcoal canister. Someone once posted a pic showing a black sludge coming out of the purge valve - that’s a sure sign, but it doesn’t need to get that bad to cause problems.

This is the opposite of "ain't got no gas in it". You've got gas where you aren't supposed to. I bet if you aimed for 3/4 full when pumping your problem goes away. Problem with this solution is that given the MPGs of these things that'll leave you with about 150 miles of range.

Yeaup, I blew fuel out of my charcoal canister a couple times trying to figure this out.

Topping up is not helpful. I purposely fill the tanks with the nozzle on full, and at the “click” indicating full, close it up.
A lesson learned from my S-Type.
