    Beep beep

I’ve been dealing with this issue too. It’***** or miss when it occurs, but when it does I just put my gym bag close to the door handle and the doors locks without any issues. It’s annoying, but not at the top of the priority list. Really interested to know what you find out. Good luck...

Replace the VVT Phasers when replacing chains on a '16 LR4

I’m in the process of doing the timing chains, tensioners, injectors, etc., along with a complete refresh of the entire cooling system including front and rear cross over pipes, water pump, thermostat, radiator, fan, and all of the coolant hoses. I’ve debated replacing the VVTs, but haven’t...

Rear Tire Carrier - Any Regrets in Daily Life?

I have the Terrafirma tire carrier on mine. It’s it a hassle compared to not having it on, yes. We use our LR4 multiple times daily for commuting, errands, and kids sports so we’re always accessing the load space and tailgate. Initially we had regrets but we just got use to it and it accepted...

Valve Cover Gasket / Front Timing Cover Questions

Why wouldn’t replacing the gasket with a genuine one work if it’s just an oil leak and nothing else? Just curious as this is on my list of “While I’m in there” things to do when I do the timing chains next weekend.

Looking to purchase timing chain tools

Thanks Longtrail. I would appreciate you sharing your parts list. I’ve been looking at the Lucky8 kit which looks like it’s all genuine LR parts and the Atlantic British kit which doesn’t really specify. In either case, neither includes all of the ancillary items like the crank bolt or front...

Looking to purchase timing chain tools

Thanks for putting this thread together @Longtrail, it’s given me the motivation to do the job myself. Did you replace your fuel injectors and cam variations with with new ones or did you reuse your old parts?

    4WD System Question

If you go into the 4x4 info app on the main screen, you can tell if you have the rear locker or not.

When is it time to say goodbye?

Yeah, I agree. It’s the little things like this that come up that annoy me and want to pull the trigger on a newer Defender or RR. But then I scroll through eBay for parts and realize how cheap these annoyances can be fixed. Keep in mind some of our LR4s are at 15yrs old. My rear camera...

150k miles, time for differential and transfer case fluids

I used Redline when I changed my diff fluids. https://www.redlineoil.com/75w90-gl-5-gear-oil Don’t waste your time or money on the hand held fluid transfer pumps, too cumbersome IMO. Use something like this instead…...

Inner CV joint separated during lower control arm replacement

With both front wheels off the ground, you should be able to rotate the wheel hub while pushing inward on the CV shaft. This should help the teeth on the shaft line up with the CV joint.

    stainless steel brake lines

I have the Terrafirma kits from Lucky8. The quality of the kits is very good and comes with all new hardware for mounting. My stock brake lines weren’t leaking, but definitely had some dry rot and cracking that I didn’t notice until taking them off.

Transmission - Mechatronic Valve Body Sleeve (TZV500010) replacement - help!

The mechatronic sleeve is actually not that bad. With the valve body removed (I did a fully service on it), you can slide the mechtronic sleeve into place to get a feel for how much pressure is required to get it seated. To help with proper alignment, I kept the valve body finger tight and...

Can't seem to be able to program homelink

I went with this same solution for my 2013 after multiple attempts to pair the Homelink with my Chaimberlain openers. I purchased a mirror from a newer 2015-2016 LR4 to see if it would work, it didn’t.

Based on your update, I’m on the same page with your wife regarding your capabilities for engine removal assuming you have the basic tools to get it done. Get after it! These trucks are not that hard to work on based on my experience. What’s your plan for the engine? Find a replacement or...

    DIY Oil Change for LR4

I picked up my 2013 LR4 with 112K miles and have used Redline 5W20 every 5K miles. Engine run smooth and no issues. It’s the same maintenance program I run on the Range Rover L405. BITOG tends to cater to the “best bang for your buck” crowd so the majority of comments will give you grief if...

I think it depends on your long-terms plans for the vehicle. If you plan on keeping it, then options 2 is the way to go. I’m not sure if you plan to do the work, but option 3 seems way too low if a shop was doing it. When you factor in the “while you’re in there” parts and other components...

There may be nothing you can do... P0016

Well, 875 miles later and the P0018-00 came back on while my wife went to run an errand. This is time power was reduced but luckily she was just 2 miles from home and drove back home. I finally had a chance to look at it today and cleared the code with the GAP tool. I started the engine and...

    Aftermarket Exhaust anyone?

I’m not a farmer so I don’t really care, lol. I’ll order this after the next round of maintenance jobs just for the sport exhaust sound. I don’t want the loud or obnoxious sounds like some of the YouTube videos after deleting the center mufflers. From an engineering standpoint, the Magnaflow...

Well, nothing says quiet and refined like a 2.5” lift and 33” MTs. Lol
