Serpentine/Accessory belt failure on a very wet, dark MI road in the middle of nowhere...

Also you may not need to splice, there is likely a way to release the pins from the connector, allowing you to swap just the plastic housing (unless the wires themselves took some damage)

Serpentine/Accessory belt failure on a very wet, dark MI road in the middle of nowhere...

So you'll put the new idler in place, put it back together with a new serpentine belt, and make sure it runs? Then you'll take it all apart again to do the cooling system refresh?

    Metal coolant plumbing for LR4?

Why is the front crossover for the SCV6 not compatible with the V8? I would have expected it to be lower profile to accommodate the supercharger. I understand the rear crossover isn't because it has longer "legs" to extend to the shorter cylinder heads (on account of the 'blanked' cylinder in...

    Head Removal

I think the lack of skill will resolve itself, the key is to have time to compensate, as well as a space that's all-season and comfortable to work in.

Accurate Service History of the Car

I would start with a Carfax report, it will at least have a baseline. Just know that the report will capture only a subset of what was actually done. Also calling the service center might be better than email, though the outcome is likely going to be the same - they will probably say they...

    High Pressure Fuel Pump Question

People may not know they want a write up, and only appreciate it when their HPFPs need R&R. If you have time and inclination, I'd vote for a write up for posterity, while it's all fresh in your mind.

Transmission taking too long to shift

When I go downhill it will also hold a gear and keep me from going too fast, so my LR4's transmission behavior aligns with yours. I like it, and don't expect a detectable increase in wear from this, and 2k rpm isn't really high in my book.

Serpentine/Accessory belt failure on a very wet, dark MI road in the middle of nowhere...

I've gotten some parts from landroverparamus (in NJ), and found they had some good prices. Is the pulley on the tensioner the same as the idler pulley, or do you need to replace the entire tensioner assembly to get just the pulley?

Serpentine/Accessory belt failure on a very wet, dark MI road in the middle of nowhere...

Being above the vacuum pump, perhaps the bearing let go and that is indeed ball bearings you saw earlier. This is consistent with the rattling while the thing is still largely where it should be. A broken shaft and I'd expect the pulley to be down by the skid plate or MIA.

    Control Arms

Do you have the orange bushings for the upper arms too (I hadn't seen those before)? You can get Lemforder lower control arms with the liquid filled bushings from FCPEuro for about $180 each. Lemforder makes them for Land Rover, and the ones you get direct from them have had the Land Rover...

Serpentine/Accessory belt failure on a very wet, dark MI road in the middle of nowhere...

If it's the original belt, 12 years is a good run IMO. From what I read the fan belt needs to come off to get the serpentine belt in, so you might as well replace that one too while you're there. Consider doing the water pump now too since the belts will be out of the way (though that requires...

    2012 LR4 150k Mile Maintenance

I noticed a difference in the shifting of our transmission after the fluid change. The rest of the stuff is just maintenance to hopefully keep it from leaving me stranded at an inopportune time and should be undetectable in day-to-day use. Enjoy the peace of mind, and the time it'll hopefully...

    2012 LR4 150k Mile Maintenance

it's cheaper than replacing it with something lesser. How was your experience with Lamorna? When you say "replaced the major fluids" do you mean the tranny fluid, transfer case, and diffs? Power steering too?

Transmission taking too long to shift

Winter program would be the snow and gravel terrain control mode. I would guess manual shifting would be done by going into S and they selecting gears. I don't know how high a gear it will let you select without moving.

Transmission taking too long to shift

I am always worried about going under the car without jackstands, especially with it turned on - what if the EAS system detects an issue and drops it to the bump stops? I would suggest extended height, with jackstands just to make sure it can't fall on you while you're underneath. I can't...

Zip kit and fluid change, now won't go past 5th

Almost cheaper to buy a whole lr4 with a blown engine or crash damage and part it out to recoup. Will this new shop go on the record with their findings in case you end up in court?
