How 2 replace suspension compressor

I have the online book to replace the suspension compressor but it says i need to depressurize the system using a t4 thing, thats the only thing i dont know about. I think its like an obd adapter thing for a diagnostics machine but not sure. if anyone know about this please give me a hand I brought my lr3 to the dealer and they said i needed a new compresor at 1200 total. I like to work on cars and i can get the compressor for 250 so thats a big difference. thanks for any help you all can give.

Also is there a way to fill the tanks so they will fill the shocks and bring the truck back up to normal height so i can use the rover while waiting?

Question 2, i don't see why not. You just need to figure out what PSI the OEM compressor output is, and then jerry-rig a way to hook up your home air compressor to roughly the same pressure and use the TLIR approach (Til It Looks Right). The level sensors will tell you what height you reached (I think).

Question 1. I think the T4 is a reference to the Testbook computer that LR uses to diagnose the car. However, I have more recently heard it described as the IDS computer, not the T4. I don't know if this is one and the same or apples to oranges. Nor do know why you would need to use a computer to work on the air compressor, but it does not surprise me much.

Please dont jerry rig your lr3, the t4 is used on older land rovers and the IDS is for 05 and up depending on the vin split. Yeah i know what you mean when you say the dealer is expensive but so is buying a lr3. As far a depressurizing your air suspension, the reason why they say hook up the IDS is so that you dont have air blowing out at you when disconnecting the line. I have replaced compressors various times, just push the clips in and pull on the line. The lr3 compressor can be difficult for first timers so its up to you if you want to do it yourself.

IDS my manual does not say anything about the IDS It just says you have to have the t4 to put pressure back into the lines... Thats all i know... I have always worked on all my cars and never had a problem but also never had one with all the damn bells and whisles like this one..

as far as getting the line pressure back up, the compressor will do that automatically when you turn the vehicle on. IDS is one of our scan tools, upgraded version of the t4 for newer vehicles.

so You are saying that i can do it myself without having the ids or t4. I think my system is already depresurized since its looks like its sitting on the bumps. But other then that just use caution when un-hocking the lines and just replace it using the book guide tutorials i have...
