The same would be true for old fluid, which may be different viscosity than new/fresh fluid. And the TCU will adapt again, to compensate for any wear in solenoids, friction materials, etc.I believe the consensus was to reset adaptations if the solenoids were replaced, but not if just the fluid was replaced. The adaptations account for wear in the solenoids.
What I don't know is how fast it will re-adapt. In some cases a transmission might shift funny after resetting, until the TCU gradually re-adapts.
It would be interesting to hear if there have been any disaster stories related to resetting adaptation on the ZF boxes.
