Ultragauge 2

I ordered the ultragauge to monitor the temps since I live in Vegas. So far I’ve only setup the coolant temp and set the alarm for 205. In the picture you can see it was 111 out and cruising at 35 temps stays 194-195, setting in drive thru it did hit 201.

Using the Gap IID tool to show temps, I found the bar graph to be a joke. It climbs rapidly to center and reaches the center point (shown in your photo) at 70°C. However, the bar graph reading then does not move at all between 70°-95°C, which I find annoying. Might as well not have a gauge and just a "high temp warning light" instead.

I've not seen any temps over ~95C (~204F) though, which is great.

the flat one that sticks to the dash or wherever and the gauge snaps on to it.

The standard flat mount it’s less then $4 lol and you can snap the ultra gauge onto it.

Right, but is it the horizontal or vertical? I just ordered a horizontal, hopefully that will work. I like that location.

Resurrecting an old thread but I just added an Ultragauge to my new-to-me LR4. Glad I found this thread. The accurate coolant temp + alarm (set for 210F at the moment) is some nice peace of mind.

I went with the EM Plus V1.4.

I used the combo horizontal/vertical mount in horizontal mode. Fits really well. I have already made adjustments to which gauges are shown replacing MPH with IAT. The UG gauge (second row on the right) is engine oil temp.

EDIT: I have absolutely no earthly idea what the UG gauge temperature was representing. It certainly was NOT the oil temp (or ambient, or IAT, no clue).

I'm guessing the purpose of this is to warn the driver of any pending doom (like failed crossover pipes as an example), is that correct? If so - very cool!

Is it confirmed that this will notify driver's of a leak at the crossover quicker than the stock coolant sensor which is in the wrong position to catch it? Should this be able pick up a change in temperature early enough to cut the engine and stop a catastrophic overheat/warping?
