No regrets with a Lux
I also struggled with the "to Lux or not to Lux" question, but in the end got a 2011 LR4-HSE-Lux and love it. I have two young boys in car seats, and the Lux leather is holding up great. Previous owner also had kids, so these "soft" seats have been well tested.
Lux has a few things that I'm pretty addicted to:
- Auto dimming high beams
- HD Xenon headlamps
- Harmon Kardon premium sound system (IMHO, sounds really good)
- HD pkg with rear locking diff and full size spare.
About a week ago I pulled a Toyota FJ out of deep snow where he had spun off the side of the highway. He was waiting for a towtruck, after a full size pickup had tried and failed to pull him out. LR4 barely spun a tire and popped him right back onto the road. The combination of Nokina Hak R2 with LR4's traction system makes for absolutely amazing traction.
