Replaced Rear Air Valve - New Symptoms

My 08 LR3 started showing signs of a bad/leaking rear air valve recently. Rear was low then on the bump stops overnight. Battery disconnect test showed both sides lowering evenly so last weekend I replaced the rear air valve (what a PITA by the way). Now only the passenger (right) side lowers...

    Faint metal scraping

Your mechanic could "turn" the rotors - eliminating the lip (assuming the rotors still had enough material to turn them) otherwise a significant lip might indicate it's overdue for rotor replacement. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e11G6hNRhqg

    Need help troubleshootung EAS issues

When I got my replacement AMK the instructions included options to replace the original Hitachi as well as a previous AMK with different steps to replace each. So there are technically two AMK compressors: previous and current. You know - cause this isn't complicated enough already.

This will be expensive I think, AC leaks

The best way to be sure would be to clean off those AC lines and add leak detector to the AC system (DIY kit or at an AC service center). You could also have them run a pressure check as well which would indicate issues with the AC system.

Are you having issues with AC cooling?

    First Rover

Keep in mind these are expensive trucks to maintain. $3500 with 150K miles sounds like a good deal for a LR but you'll be putting more money into it over time. Also agree with others, based on the photos and your description. IMHO - if you truly bottomed out and hit the lower control arm...

    AC went out!

Well I would say if the compressor had an internal failure and metal or debris got into the system that would be the proper way to repair it (basically replace everything). Labor is justifiably a lot of hours as the work is very time consuming. I suppose you could shop around for hours/rates...

    AC went out!

I had what sounds like a similar failure (clicking sounds for a few trips and then no AC). My turned out to be the disintegration of the clutch/pulley and therefore was external to the compressor. I found what looked like rubber mounts on the skid plate along with the front metal plate from...

    After market GPS ideas

Thanks. It fits pretty well in there with about 2mm of space (just enough for the power cord). I agree on hiding the cord and plan to create a pass through hole behind the unit - if only to make it look more built in and less interesting to car prowlers. Mine is a 6" and tucks up under the...

    After market GPS ideas

Garmin Nuvi 65 LM as in dash GPS On a recent trip to Fry's Electronics for something completely unrelated I picked up a refurbished one of these for $99: https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/on-the-road/automotive/2014-line/nuvi-65lm/prod140393.html It fits perfectly in the center dash cubby...

TPMS Warning light comes on and off

Regarding the Airstream - the other way around. We used to own an Airstream 345 Motorhome and flat towed a 69 VW Beetle behind it. No towing with the LR3 (yet) but I'd often thought about getting a Bambi in the future.

TPMS Warning light comes on and off

I have the same issue. All four sensors checked out OK. Not sure what to check next.

Belt Tensioner Pulley Bracket - End Play Tolerance?

Just replaced my water pump and belt to fix a squeak and whiffs of coolant from the engine. When I have everything out I checked all of the bearings (idlers and tensioners) for smoothness and end play. The one pulley I questioned was the one that the fan mounts to on the Belt Tensioner Pulley...

    Serpentine belt replacement

Just a quick thank you to this forum for the information provided on the process for replacing belts. I recently did this - also to identify a squeak (turned out to be the water pump) and this information made the job pretty darn easy. All in all it took about 2.5 hours to remove everything...

Leaking from bleeder screw in new overflow tank

Good to know it's supposed to have two chambers. I'll need to see why the bleeder is leaking. Tank is new, bleeder has an o-ring, etc. but seems to be leaking from the seal.

Leaking from bleeder screw in new overflow tank

So the brand new overflow tank seems to lose coolant from the bleeder screw in the top of the tank on a regular basis. So much so that I have to add coolant in weekly. New tank, new "T" bleeder, system filled and bled, etc. It appears that return coolant is getting "stuck" in a small...

    Low Coolant Warning on Hill

Noticed the Low Coolant warning is coming on briefly as I enter the driveway (which is on an incline). Warning goes away quickly and does not show during normal driving. Coolant is full, bled properly, etc. Strange eh? Sensor?
