I bought mine because used ones are going for really nice deals...I got an 06, with only 25K on the clock with lighting cold weather, 3rd row seating for 27K (seen them cheaper in other areas of the country)...It's been a great so far, and is my weekend warrior. Plans for a Yosemite trip and many snowboarding trips to come. I was told by California Rover(15-18 years of Rover experience) that they do see more 05's in for more major services than 06's but Im wondering if thats because of the simple fact that 06's are just newer...either way Im still under warranty, so things are free till it runs out...In short Im happy with my choice.

Don't hesitate to purchase. I picked up an 08 HSE with every option except the locking rear diff...just couldn't find one with the HD Pckg on the lots in IL. It was a service loaner with 17k on the clock. Purchased for 36K. Its a weekend car so I wasnt to upset about the few extra miles....
This truck is incredible. No problems in the first three months-ive had it hood deep in water, climbed up and down the sides of a muddy strip mine, and driven through a few ditches I thought would for sure take off a bumper (been a long time since I've been 4wheelin); simply, it left me gigglin like a school kid-
I don't see the need to spend the extra money for a new dashbaord layout a few more horsepower. Well ,375 HP would be sweet, but who needs 6 second 0-60 in a 3 ton vehicle anyway?:stupid:

Yea that's one thing about the LR3...even though is a Lux SUV you know its going to be capaple the X5 or Benz really doesn't have the same heritage. LRs are well mannered in the city, while still capable in the woods...

I'm driving my second LR3 and will probably always have at least one LR as long as they are still on the market. One note, I had an '05 and had all the first-model-year problems. My '08 is as solid as any vehicle I've ever seen. I wouldn't buy the '09 LR4 on a bet. The '10 will almost definitely be a better vehicle than the '09.

I wouldn't worry about the LR4 having to many new model problems. Keep in mind the tha the LR3 was completely new. New chasis, suspension, electronics, etc. The L4 is simply an updated LR3, albeit with some fantastic updates. Frankly, I'll be looking very anxious at the LR4's when they come out. I tow often, so the 375 lb-ft of torque and added towing electronic smarts has me really interested.

I have one question. I thought I read somewhere that the LR4 won't have the second available battery tray under the hood like the LR3 has. Did I simply have a nightmare, or can someone comment as to if this is the case or not.

I bought my 06 LR3 used with 19k miles fully loaded for half the price of a new one. I absolutely love it and wouldn't trade it for the world. I took it mudding the first day I got it. It's a beast offroad and still super fun to drive around town. Either way you go you'll be happy. It's been in the shop once already, I knew it would be high maintenance to begin with, but it's still worth it for a go-anywhere-do-anything vehicle. :)
