I just bought a 2005 LR3 and one of the previous owners had removed the mini aux jack in leiu of a 3 connector RCA AV setup. I think this was to provide a game input for the factory overhead DVD system, which is no longer there and was replaced with an Audiovox one. The wiring setup seemed to indicate that anyway.

So where can I buy a new aux input panel with the mini jack? Does anyone around here sell parts along these lines? Thanks.

You should be able to use the existing panel to connect your iPod or other device. The cable you'd need to interface would be mini jack to RCA.

Pretty slick the way they modified that panel. So the former 3.5mm AUX audio input is now an RCA video in going nowhere?

An adapter like this should work and would be cheaper than a new panel:

What do you want to use the AUX jack for? IF its for iPod input, it doesn't work all that well. The signal source is damped down to the point were many are dissatisfied with it. Best to plug an AUX cord directly into the back of the headunit (if you are trying to run an iPod or iPhone).

Yes this is for an iPod.

Thanks guys but those RCA jacks actually run up to the overhead DVD - I actually was able to get a new Aux panel and jack from the dealer for about $70. The audio is as nwoods said, low and noisy.

If I were to plug the aux cable directly into the back of the head unit, how exactly would I do that? There isn't a plug back there, so do you mean that the Aux jack itself is what dumps the signal and that if I hard wire/solder an aux cable to the wiring entering the stereo from the normal aux input that the signal will likely be of a more acceptable level? I guess I may still encounter noise but I could put a filter inline as well.

Thanks alot

I'm not exactly sure because I didn't do the work myself, but I went to a good stereo shop and said, I want to connect my iPhone to this thing!. they ran a connector (that powers it and connects to the bottom of the iPhone/iPod to the back of the headunit and plugged it in somehow. I use the AUX button to access it. I am sure on part of the cable goes to a power lead that they tapped into for the charging function. One of the best mods I ever did. I drive a lot and Audio books through the iPhone are fantastic.
