What is this wire?

Just purchased a 2007 LR3. When I looked under it, I found this wire attached to the passenger side rear wheel caliper bleed ******. It looks like the ends of the wire have been taped off. I can't tell where it would have been attached. Thanks for any help.

it looks like it is your pad wear sensor. If the ends are taped then someone got lazy and didn't replace the sensor when the pads were replaced. A new sensor is <$20

Not a great pic, I agree it's the wear sensor. It is supposed to clip onto the back of the brake pad. You have another one on the front right wheel as well. $20 or so to replace yourself if you want.
