what hitch for my lr3?

I am trying to prepare my LR3 for towing an Airstream by buying some tow equipment from the UK in the US. The challenge I am facing is to calculate what rise I should buy using the Factory 2" hitch receiver for the LR3. Can anybody help?

I first of all do not know what the height of the top of the tube of the hitch receiver is: Its not available in the UK. Does anyone know?

Even if I know that height, I also would need to know the distance from the hitch receiver tube pin hole to the back of the bumper.

But how thah calculate what hitch to buy: If I need hitch ball height of 19.5 and lets assume the top of the hitch receiver tube is 10" should I buy 9,5" rise or should it be 9,5" minus height of hitch ball?

Hi

I tow a 16' Airstream CCD with my LR3. Using the factory receiver - the top of the inside of the receiver is 13". Airstream measures the needed hitch height "to the top of the ball."

So . . . . since my trailer needs "18 inches to the top of the ball" (from the manual and the Airstream website) - - I needed a hitch and ball that added 5 inches. I got a regular hitch with a one inch drop - turned it upside down. So it adds a little more than a inch of height. Then the 2 5/16 inch ball adds another 3 1/2 inches or so - - - bottom line - it adds up to just at 5 inches.

So - make sure you consider the height of the ball to your math. Hope that helps.

Mine works great! The LR3 tows great with the air suspension.

Plus - the LR3 and the Airstream look pretty sharp together!
