Weboost setup

With the release of the weboost overland package, I’m starting to consider one. Anybody have one set up on their roof? Interested in seeing your setups and whether you hardwired in and how you mounted.

I have one mounted to the LH rear on a Frontrunner antenna plate mounted on my Frontrunner roof rack. The antenna plate folds down along the rack when not in use. I mounted my weboost next to the rear AC panel and utilizes the factory rear cigarette outlet. The interior antenna mounted (double-sided sticker) on the LH C pillar between 2nd and 3rd row.

Here's the gotcha with the weboost. It draws a lot of power and heats up pretty quickly. It's not as small as the pictures on the box, it's the size of a dc-dc charger. The interior antenna is technically omnidirectional, but works best if you're directly in front of it. The further away you're from the antenna, the dB drops significantly. With that said, I can place my mifi in the 3rd row cup holder and connect my devices via wifi for internet. From no signal, I can sometimes get 1 bar, it's a bit or miss. I'm definitely glad to have it when I needed it.

THanks. Did you do any fancy cable routing from the rear roof into the rear area? Just looking to get an idea of a "clean" install.

I ran it through the upper tailgate through the top left grommet and down the LH D pillar to the rear AC area. If you look closely in the picture, there's a wire that routes between the upper tailgate gap.
