interesting thought
Interesting. If the voice recognition software is stored in the navigation computer, I wonder if updating the NAV software would provide any better/improved voice recognition functionality? Or... I wonder if those folks with 2008 or 2009 MY LR3s have any fewer complaints than those of us with older MY cars.
A couple of weeks back I got the Nav on the Move feature working.
If I understood what I did, I overwrote the existing software in the NAV with the
HW_NAV1 software and then overwrote that Nav on the Move software will what I will call the NAV/Touch Screen software.
The NAV software number, or more correctly, the
Front Entertainment Control Module or
Touch Screen software that first showed to be in my NAV was
YIE500040 and as I could not find YIE500040 to do the overwrite, I instead used the next closest number
YIE500090. The good news was all worked when I was completed and I might add it was for me, not as simple as I make it sound. It probably took me 3 weeks of worry, (research is a nicer word), before I attempted it.
Looking back however, I wonder if I could have used a newer software such as
YIE500190 and if I did, would it work, not work, be better, or worse?
As it is, I am happy as all seems to work OK. I did not have to reset anything re the voice recognition - well my voice dial phone numbers were gone but I think that was to do with the new D4 Bluetooth module install rather than the NAV on the Move update.
The voice was still British female, but I think that is a default but I sensed that the recognition was having more trouble than usual with my requests. As such, maybe it was having to relearn me, but again, that is just a guess.
Regardless, the idea of reflashing the NAV with a more current software number is an interesting thought. If the voice recognition does have learning capability and I think it does, and if the software I refer to is the voice recognition software, then one must presume that newer is better?
