I know of several v8's in the PNW with those wheels stock. Mostly on Black rigs too. The lack of v8 badging still makes me wonder. At anyrate that price is still better then 21k posted earlier. I think if you do your homework you can do better. How long have they had it? This one has been up a couple months in Portland http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/cto/1715005655.html Lower miles, more options and a v8 for basically the same price....

I've been driving a 2006 SE V6 for the last 6 months and I don't regret for a minute not getting the V8. Does it work hard to push the car around? You bet it does. Does it sound like it's working hard? Nope.

The only thing I wish I'd have is the factory xenons.. otherwise the truck is perfect. I have test drove almost anything in the same category and nothing came close to the prestige of a LR... :D

Yes this is a v6 model. I told the sales manager and they reduced the price overnight after he thought I was some fool who didn't do his homework. Took the wife to look at it today and look at other rigs in the Spokane area and the sunroof doesn't open so I told them to call me when and if they fix it so she can take it for a test drive, she wasn't to sure about it because the owners manual was dirty so she thinks it might have been abused some and of course I stop by the audi/vw dealership and the sales guy I have bought my last 4 cars from starts blabbing to her about the expensive upkeep and such so she wasn't to enthused about maintenance, then I spotted a 2005 Porsche cayenne for sale and took that for a test drive, wow that thing is f**king fast for a suv, They wife quote while test driving that was " If i have to drive a mini van and your driving a Porsche I want one too." Anyways it was pretty beat up inside but a fun drive non the less. So I am thinking I might have to take a trip over to the coast and see what they have there.

2nd on the v8 for towing. 3rd on that price being way too high. Last august I bought my 06 HSE with 33k for 27600 and that was an LR dealer. Find a V8 with 7 seats and Nav at the least. Shoot for an HSE if you want an excellent stereo. You may be able to find a rear locker diff as well out there.

I traded my Audi allroad in on the LR and don't regret it for a second.

Just an FYI...a new sunroof assembly costs around 2100 (I just had mine replaced under warranty) but it may just need a recaliberation by just holding down the sunroof button for like 10 seconds.

Depending on which cayenne you drove (cayenne, cayenne s, cayenne turbo, or gts) they can be superfast but you will lose your offroading and maintenance cost will be just as much. You can tow though...I have a friend towing his Ski Nautique.

This is incorrect information. It is not the Ranger/Explorer V6. This engine is a Jaguar derived powerplant, and it has proven to be a VERY solid engine.

Actually, the V6 does very well. I have a lot of seat time in both platforms. After driving a V8 for 8,000+ miles, I jumped back into the V6 and did not find it lacking. The V8 feels a bit more nimble at speed (for passing), but the V6 is an impressive engine. It has considerably more horsepower and torque than the old 3.9/4.2L V8's from previous Rovers. However, it does NOT get any better gas mileage, so all things being equal, I'd reccommend the V8 over the V6 also, but I would not pass up a deal on a V6 model just because of the engine. It's a solid powerplant. And, significantly I think, the V6 is better mated to the tranny than the V8. It's a potent combo.

I did some research and found that the V6 is not Jag derived at all. Like I thought, Ford has been using it since 1997. As stated below. If it was Jag derived, the would have used it on one of their cars, like the AJ-V8

Currently the only version of the Cologne engine still in production, the SOHC version was introduced in 1997 in the Ford Explorer, alongside the original pushrod version. It features a variable length intake manifold and produces 210 hp (157 kW) and 245 lb·ft (332 N·m)f. It uses a jackshaft in place of a camshaft to drive a timing chain to each cylinder head. Three timing chains are used, one from the crank to the jackshaft, one in the front of the engine to drive the cam for the left bank, and one on the back of the engine to drive the cam for the right bank. Ford Power Products sells this engine as the SOHC-640.

A version of the engine is used in the Land Rover LR3 in Australia and Canada, producing 216 hp (161 kW) and 269 lb·ft (365 N·m) of torque at 3000 rpm. The Land Rover version of the engine became unavailable in the United States for the 2008 model year.

Applications:

2001–present Ford Ranger
2001–2009 Mazda B-Series
1997–2010 Ford Explorer/Mercury Mountaineer
2005–2010 Ford Mustang
2005–2009 Land Rover LR3
