Hello to all being my first post, My question which im sure you have heard numerous times is this... 2006 Lr3 SE V6 with 81000 miles for 21000. My worries of course are dependability..this would be my daily driver. How good is the v6 and will it last another 100k. I really like this rig coming from audi's i like my luxuries and such, but I am worried about it lasting. So could all you LR3 owners give me some advice. I am also looking at a 04 4runner with a v8 and 85000 miles but it is so..well toyota ish which means dependability but boring. Thanks for all your input.

first off, i love my LR3 and really can't think of another vehicle i would like to drive. it has been a great truck but with a few quirks, which have been well worth it. an extended warranty is a pretty good idea if you can swing it. i have also found it useful to get to know guys in a local rover club to get advice from and help w/ mods/maintenance. my mom had an '05 4runner sport. yes, it was a bit more reliable, but i hated the feel of it compared to the LR3. the LR3 is not that much bigger, but it feels like a manly car and has a huge interior. not so much in the 4runner. also the air suspension makes it feel like a lexus GX on the highway.

on another note...i think you can get a way better price than that. a quick look on craigslist and i found an '06 SE w/ 74k, nav, and an extended warranty to 100k that just sold for $16,800 in dallas.

My advice is standard. If you're not going to wheel it, you might want to find something more suitable for daily driving that is less quirky, more reliable and equally fun. If it's going to be on the road mostly, consider the BMW X5.

Seems high for a v6 and mileage...I was fortunate to buy a 06 se w/ 31k miles certified back in early 09 for 25k.

I agree there is no other SUV I would drive...mine too is my daily driver. I put 31k miles on it in my first year owning it. I had a 4runner as a loaner once and it felt very cheap. Not sure what area you are in but shop around and try to get some sort of warranty too at least. Just my opinion as it tends to have gremlins appear at times:)

We looked at x5 also but I wasn't satisfied with the mileage of them and costing even more. But I was not looking at the 3.0 x5.

And you say you like audi...not sure what your plan is with the car but did you consider the Q7 as a luxury daily driver?

The V6 is VERY good. It will go the distance. However, I think that price is a bit high for those miles. I would offer $17k, and keep looking elsewhere after you hit $19k. Things you are going to want looked at include suspension bushings, battery, alternator, transmission seals, CD player (does it eject CD's okay), current software build, gas tank recall, sunroof draintube fix, and compressor for the air suspension system.

Thanks for the input so far guys and gals, I plan on off roading, light boat pulling and hauling kids and their friends. I originally looked at denali's and yukons still like them but the land rover has always caught my eye. I am in the spokane,wa area and kbb says book is 23000. In other areas they seemed much cheaper but alas I am in the inland northwest area. I test drove it today and really like it but I need it to last me. I also plan to get a extended warranty if I do. I am no stranger to quirks after having 3 audi's but the suspension problems scare me to be honest. But damm I love how it drove and how it looks. How does the v6 do over time?

All these low prices for LR3's make me feel bad for spending so much in the first place. My '05 V8 SE i bought new was nearly $55k, gotta love LR depreciation. FWIW, I think you'd be happier waiting for a high mileage V8 to pop up in your price range. Mine seems to sound better with age.

Go for an LR3, you won't be sorry in the least.

Might want to get the V8 if you'll be doing any towing...

Go for the LR3 over the Denali/yukon. I traded my 08 Yukon Denali in on the LR3 and don't regret it.
