Two screws on the inside section, the whole light pulls right out.

This is a very easy, no fear sort of repair. It just pops off with a slight tug after you remove the two screws, and they are obvious. Must open the tailgate first though.

...yeah, you have to give that thing a good pull to free it. Even knowing that I still thought I was going to break some plastic.

While you're there, change both sides. At first I just did one brake light and found the new bulb to be drastically brighter than the old bulb. So replacing in pairs seems like the call.

Seems like a lot of bulbs have burned out for such a new car...
Just curious, does the display tell you of bulb failure, as with the Range Rovers?

Just had both bulbs replaced . . .

both rear brake lights when out - about a month apart - had the dealer do it under warranty. They told me there was an issue with the OEM bulbs on the LR3 getting too hot and failing prematurely. New bulb is a newer halogen from a different supplier (not sure who - didn't look/ask).

I think this is the first time I've had to replace a OEM light because it burned out under 60K miles in over 20 years! Wait, take that back - my '94 Grand Prix and those 'light up the grill' fog lights lasted about 20K - because they were stupid!

No it doesn't, however it will tell if a trailer light is out, which is cute and all except my trailer has LED lights and as soon as I plug the trailer lights into the LR3, lights flash on & off like a strobe light even with the key out of the ignition.

Land Rover NA advised me they did not design the LR3 to tow trailers with LED lights, so they cannot help me.
