Hi everyone,

I have a 2018 Range Rover Sport and recently I started hearing a strange noise coming from the engine area. It is a kind of rattling sound that only seems to happen when I accelerate, especially at lower speeds. I have checked under the hood but can not see anything obvious and no warning lights have come on.

Has anyone else experienced this issue or does anyone have ideas on what it could be? I am hoping it is something simple and not a serious repair. Any tips on diagnosing or quick checks I could do myself would be really helpful before I decide to take it to the dealership.
I have also searched this topic on this site https://www.rangerovers.net/threads/very-strange-rattling-noise-coming-from-somewhere-under-hood-sap-sac but I could not find anything.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Best,
[Dianna]

Too late to answer OP diannnhadn ... but might help some others searching ....

I had exact same noise, and it only occured when accelerating. Not every time, but enough to worry me.

It was the park/emergency brake cable hanging down out of it's 'holder', and rubbing against the drive shaft.

I'd been to the dealership for the gas tank flange recall. They take out the gas tank for this, and the cable is right beside and is obviously moved in the process. The cable was not put back in place. A simple mistake, but one you think the LR mechanics would know to avoid.
