They are listed in my signature:

BMW 750i 2007
BMW 530i 2002

Interesting. I have had 3 BMWs and never expierienced anything less than a 5 year battery life. In fact my 01 E39 M5 is only on its second OEM battery. Although most winters the M5 stays on a trickle charger so that probably helps.

Actually.. come to think of it now that I know my starter was going I might have not been having a battery issue at all.

Keep us posted. Having a new battery doesn't hurt actually ;)

My Bimmers experience short drives usually (less than 4 miles a day) and are always parked pretty much. I don't do trickle charge, which I think I should. Maybe that's why they drain faster than usual, but they do drain for sure LOL! Although they do have a "vacation" switch for shutting down battery to minimum use when on extended stay, but in my case it's sort of not convenient.

Well... my battery is only 2 years old and literally its running at 99% capacity so Im pretty sure its fine. At this point Im convinced it was the starter due to the slightly odd noise it would make while turning over. Like a bad solenoid. If its not the starter then it could be the crank sensor. I was reading on another forum a member narrowed his down to the crank sensor after replacing a battery and a starter. I will keep you guys updated.

As for the E39 M5 I only put her on a trickle charger during the winter months while she is hibernating. Other than that I usually only drive short distances as well.

You can start a new DIY project with an extra battery, install it on the driver side and wire it up. There are some posts about that mentioning yellow top traxide stuff. Oh wait the normal battery is not gonna fit there? Hmmm...

Actually I read a thread on a forum a while ago from a guy who added a second battery. It was pretty cool but a big undertaking if I remember.

Dual Battery Install

Land Rover provided space for a second battery per the link below.

With the kit I got from Traxide out of Australia, the hardest part was choosing a suitable battery. For me, I got a shallow cycle starting battery similar to the already installed Interstate **** as the purpose of the second battery was for engine starting rather than say winch use.

Replace **** with disco3 co uk and insert a period in each of the two spaces.

@churious: Good to know! New starter and battery, I guess you are set in that department now. When mine starts clicking on start then I'd be looking at that part too :) Thanks for the update.

No, this forum blocks disco3.

Disco3 forum down?
No Disco3 is alive and well. This forum blocks links to it for some unwritten reason - at times I wonder why I bother even posting on this forum as to some degree, my responses are not for my benefit.
