Slider Comparison; anyone used either of these?

On that note, I can't find ANY information on the Proud Rhino sliders other than what Lucky8 has posted. Nothing. I even got to their website, but all they list is their lift rod kits. Odd.

The voyager sliders rusted on me instantaneously and were an unrecognizable mess of rust in two years. I never went off-roading, so it had nothing to do with chips. Also, shipping was very expensive and these things weigh A LOT. I got rid of them and sold them for 10% of what I paid and felt lucky to get that. Ya, i was a bit turned off originally, but they made it right and zinced them.. so all they have now is a little surface rust which is easily maintainable.

I mentioned above, UPS will ship them, so you can avoid freight. They barely make the cutoff or size I think.

They are new. Lucky8 just put them on their website within the last month. I don't think they've ever been discussed on this forum before.

Within the next few months, I will be buying some sliders and other things. I think the Proud Rhino ones are what I'd go with.

Yea, I love my Voyagers look and functionality but mine rusted instantly. If they think the racks need a zinc coat, I've no clue why they skimp on it for the sliders. Even with the powder coat they used, within a year I had it flaking off right behind the wheel and the connecting tubes where road debris hits. I am not sure how long other sliders powder coating should last, but I wasn't terribly impressed.

Well now I'm finding my voyagers to be more special. I know they told me they zinced them and double coated them. I was just taking new pics of mine and it's been over two years since they were re coated.

As far as rack and ladder, I love their stuff.

I'll say this, just so my comment doesn't inadvertently slam an independent business that designs and builds their own product. Everything is made to order. They build it right there, can customize anything, and were friendly and accommodating on the phone. I'm sure if someone called up and asked for a set zinc coated, they'd do it. He may not even be aware that folks are having this issue as he seemed pretty proud of his products when I spoke to him.

That said, surfrider, good feedback. Like you, I'm more of a sand crab than a rock crawler.

I might pull my sliders off and fix the minor rust on them soon (going to be nice this weekend). If anyone else is interested in buying my voyagers let me know.

Has anyone installed the TERRAFIRMA sliders since Michael posted this DETAILED BLOG of his install in March, 2015? It looks like he had to make significant modifications in order to get rid of understandable interference concerns.

Lucky8 said TF released a new version in late 2016 and they've shipped 10+ out since with no complaints. I'm wondering if people just cram it all in there and hope for the best, or if modifications have been made.

@Surfrider77 , how do you feel about sand getting up and into the pocket where all the sliders connect to the frame? It seems the sliders are open at the top and then creates a great place for sand to sit that would be difficult to rinse out.
