How are you able to have the UK license plate in front?

The 2011 Nara was my first choice, I was absolutely 100% sure that was the colour and year. But once I saw the 2010 Izmir sitting in the showroom, I knew right then and there, that that LR4 was for me. She kind of spoke to me... funny.
As for the UK numbers plates… well… ahem (clears throat), unfortunately, about a month ago, I was pulled over by not just one SF police cruiser, but two, in front of a very busy bus stop. The police officers politely asked why there was UK plates on the vehicle and proceeded with further questions such as, “Are you a terrorist?” Then another series of insane questions… which I politely answered – and after they finally determined that I wasn’t an international terrorist with unsavory plans, they went on to explain to me that the new law forbids non-US plates under the new Home Land Security law, and displaying foreign plates on a US registered vehicle can lead to an arrested, vehicle impoundment, and criminal charges filed against me (misdemeanor), even if US plates were put "over" them. That was enough to convince me.
Anyway, I removed the plates that evening; I even put the dreaded California “front plate” on. And it was at that moment that I realized, no matter how awesome the UK number plates are, they weren't worth going to jail over.
