Actually it idles in (P) at a little over 2000. In drive when at a stop light it is at 1100 so when I release the brake it lunges. This doesn't happen all the time, i would guess it happens once every 20 miles or so. In other words, once every trip. One thing to note is that it does this after the engine is warmed up.

OK, so now to regroup.
Check your throttle and cruise control cables, make sure they are not sticking or binding up. Next you might want to clean your stepper motor, it could be sticking and holding the idle up.
Has the check engine lightcome on when this happens??

Also, to what Mike said, get off plastic T-piece that is on air line that goes off from behind throttle sensor to crankcase breather thingy and to inside plenum.

Smaller nose is in fact restrictor that will cause weirdo RPM behavior if gets seriously dirty - carb chocker or any petrol based cleaner + small needle is all you need to clean it.

Cleaning those lines may be good idea anyway :)

Thanks, I'll try that when I get home (along with examining the cruise control hoses)

Where does the lockring go? Someone took the cap off and when I had trouble I opened the top of the shifter...the lockring and e-clip were not attached.
