baobay, guys... these running boards - how are they in off-road situation, I mean how durable are those, what will happen if I lean a car against a stone lets say... Would they hold, or would they bend, or would they bend all the way damaging the vehicle?

Because of that I could not choose between RBs and those protection tubes...

Any info will be useful! Thanks!

Side steps are not useful in offlroad situations. They will snap and cause damage to the vehicle if you lean against a rock. They are only meant as a step up into the vehicle. You need rock sliders for offroad situations. Those are designed to bear the weight of the vehicle and slide the vehicle over a rock. I have the side steps and am extremely happy with them. They make the LR4 look nicer. I do not go off road however.

Yes they're pretty strurdy, but would not support the weight of the vehicle over a rock. They are ok in mud sand snow water etc...

Ok, I got those boards... Will probably be installing it this weekend. Have a question:

Somehow I don't feel right attaching those brackets directly to the car body - I feel like there should be used some kind of anti corrosion material in between, may be rubber spray or something…
What do you think?

Finally decided to give it a try. (sorry for the dirty car and poor quality, will do mo pics later…)
I guess it will be ok for now, but in the future it will be replaced with sliders…

Nice,
I think the side steps give the LR4 a better look and they are useful for shorter people to get in/out of the vehicle. I know my wife loves them and refused to get the LR4 without them installed. I like the look a lot, but I usually step around them to get in and out.

I am waiting on a pair of the Romik nerf bars (black) for my 2012 LR4. I prefer the look of the bars to the steps but I do agree that either make the LR4 look better. Not sure how soon I will be leaning them up against any rocks  but they'll look nice. Curious on the fit after what I have seen in this thread and will post an update on install.

Installed the Romik's today and I must say I'm pretty pleased with how they look. A friend helped me put them on, it took us an hour and forty-five minutes. I paid $400 with free shipping from Amazon.
