Same Problem

I just purchased a 2011 LR4. I have never had a car which had connections for iPod and USB devices so I am a little confused.

Should I be able to connect my iPod via its USB cord...into the LR4's USB slot? Or will it only work if connected to the LR4's dedicated iPod slot? When I connect it to the USB slot...nothing happens. It does not charge or do anything.

Also, should Land Rover supply the iPod connection cord for the iPod slot? I know I was not given one by the dealer. Just curious...Thanks. If not, can you purchase the connection cord anywhere BESIDES a Land Rover dealership?

I think until Land Rover fixes this problem you have to buy an USB drive and load your music to listen. Because even if you purchase the cable your phone's screen will shut off and you will not be able to use it other than charging and controlling through main screen for music only.

The iPod/iPhone adapters are on back order. I've been trying to get one for over a month.

When they do stock, British Utah charges $75 plus $8 S&H, and LR Dealerships sell them for around $107.

Personally, I'm a very impatient person and will just buy one at the dealership when they become available. And I don’t mind supporting my local businesses and LR, as they are a very SMALL company, unlike some of the massive (inferior) carmakers mentioned above.

I don't know others but I also have an 2010 Cadillac Escalade and my brother owns on 2010 Mercedes S550. Their USB connections work very well with my Iphone 4. You don't need an additional cable because you can use the cable that comes with your Iphone. It shouldn't be that difficult to correct this problem with an software update.
My husband has an aftermarket Alpine iPod stereo installed in his car. It came with a proprietary USB/iPod cable. I tried using the cable that came with my iPhone but that didn't work. And when I test drove the Kia Borrego (at one point I seriously considered buying this instead of the LR4), it also requires a proprietary iPod cable. So it's not just Land Rover. But yeah, it would be nice to be able to use the cable that came with the iPhone.

I know the Iphone4 does not work with the factory cable. Sure i can plug it into the AUX and listen to songs but i lose the manual control of moving the songs and files around through the vehicle's interface. My Iphone 3GS works just well but i would love for the Iphone 4 to work. Someone posted that if you take the bumper off the Iphone4 and it will work but that theory did not work. Hopefully the Iphone5 will work but until then I have to keep my Iphone 3GS if want to get what i paid for which is seamless interaction on the dahsboard of my Iphone's music content.

Ipod connection problem on LR HSE 2010

Hi everyone, I have a Range Rover Sport HSE 2010, an I just bought the iPod Cable part # LR019691, and it doesn't work with my iPhone 4s, or with any other device, iPhone 3s or iPod, any idea what can I do? or check on my car configuration??

Tks.

I agree that the cable should be included with the truck. With that said, my dealer charges about $115 for the cable. The truth is that it works great with a new generation ipod. You can see artist, playlist, albums, everything! I use it all the time and I have no complaints. It is actually very user friendly but careful you don't rear end someone (I have over 6000 songs to search thru). On the other hand, my iPhone works like crap with the LR. I wish my wifes LR2 had a similar setup. You have to spend about $1000 to have the ipod connection done (at least that's what I read on a post not too long ago).

What i did..i kid you not...after i posted that post about not being able to get my Iphone4 to work, i was simply asked to unplug it and plug it back and make sure it is plugged in securely. I plugged it back it tightly and snug and it worked.
