hi there

2008 LR3 HSE with 90,000 miles

My power steering is screaming with any turning of the wheel. The hose from the reservoir to the pump is collapsed with the engine running but then goes back to 'normal' when the engine is shut off. The power steering fluid also rises when the engine is turned off.

I was thinking of changing the fluid and the hose first before I order a new power steering pump.

Anyone out there ever experience this? Any advice?

Also, what about power steering fluid? I'm 500 miles from nearest dealer and have read that GM Dextron Cold Climate PS fluid is an alternative to LR

Local dealer cheaper...

Order the power steering fluid from Atlantic British. Tell them you could get it from your local dealer for 20.00 and they'll probaly price match it with a 10% discount. http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/STC50519G

I got mine from my local dealership for $20.00. FYI

Might be more expensive up there in Canada. I live in the USA Rhode Island.

Found some at the local VW dealer. Not too pricey...$32CAD ($24 USD) for a 1 litre bottle, which is a little bit more than a quart.
