Are you asking if the factory sill guards are as good as sliders, no way. If you are going off road, sliders are a must.

understood about the diff between sill and sliders . . . how many out there have sill guards and like them? Are the sliders overkill if I don't do a lot of crawlin?

It appears that you might be worried about damage to you door sills. Just take a look at what is between the door sill and the frame. You want to protect that too.

If you are talking about the OE Sillguards from Offroving, they are extremely strong and capable, although they don't provide all of the protection of the RS sliders. I helped mount the prototype units, and they are just as tough, but way more attractive than my High Country sliders. If you are looking for great looks, with good strength, they are great. I little pricier than High Country and a little less than the Rover Specialties, but don't worry about strength.
