My 2 cents:
Ebay is the best place for used rims, just have to keep checking. That's where I got mine. I liked the look of the 10 spokes better, so bought a set of 4 of those. Then found a single 5 spoke for the spare later.

I would prefer a Land Rover rim, but the point is well taken that hopefully you won't really need the spare often, so if you can save $100, you might as well. I have an LR rim personally. Selling point for me was the bead locks that are standard on LR rims.

Also, on the tires, anything with a total diameter larger than 31.5" is going to be tough to impossible to squeeze in. That's what I've got (285/60/18) and I have to deflate it to make it fit.

That's a great selling point! That's the reason I migrated to getting 4 LR rims for my MT/Rs...I originally bought some crappy cheap chrome jobs (like I said, I'm impatient) which I eventually sold to some dude with a P38! Anyhow...because they were my main off-roading rims I wanted the LR rims. The spare....prolly doesn't matter so much.

Anyhow...David, it's your call. There is a good argument either way. The X rims fit almost perfectly but don't have a beadlock and if you had to run with them for a week it would look silly. Hell at this point I don't even know if the market conditions are the same...maybe a single LR rim would be just as easy to find and just as cheap...:dontknow:

This horse is dead...
