Thanks for the response Count!

I'm waiting for the quote from two other dealers (one is also about 30 minutes from Ridgefield/Wilton and the other is an hour away) and for confirmation on lead times to deliver the vehicles. I will get rental cars for 60 days as soon as we arrive but want to get into our Land Rovers ASAP :argh:

I plan to let this dealer know that I am waiting for the quote from the other two dealers and will go with the best price. Do you think it's a good idea?

I have heard that it can go either way when you bring up that you are looking at other dealers. I think it all depends on the dealership and the tactics. You may have better luck at the smaller dealerships that don't see a high volume of sales. In your case, since you are relocating from out of the country, I think it's a good tactic. Definitely play them against each other and see where you can get the best deal.

Since you are buying 2 Land Rovers, it definitely should be a good deal.

CT is pretty wealthy in some areas, so the dealerships around Fairfield Co. and closer to NY may not be as flexible with money off the MSRP. I remember being at a dealership down there in 2004 and a guy walked in, told the sales man he wanted the Range Rover on the show room floor, and pulled out a check book.

Best of luck and keep us posted.

Well, I got $2,500 off the LR4 and $1,500 off the RRE. The difference is that my LR4 build came up to $55K and they said the MSRP for my LR4 was was $57K. I think they might have added some options I did not.

It seems dealers don't like doing business over email and they all want me to go in. :hello:

I have not found one dealer who likes to work through e-mail. That puts everything in writing. ;-)

That seems like a good deal. When I purchased my '10 LR4 HSE (non-lux) it was right at the cusp of becoming a left-over and its MSRP was $56K and we got it for $51K. But I'm sure if it was a '11 I wouldn't have gotten such a good deal. My latest purchase didn't yield that sort of savings, but it was in the range (maybe a little bit more) than the amount they're taking off of your new LR4. And that seems to be about what everyone is getting. If you can find a left-over, that might be a good strategy also, if having one that's a '12 isn't a big deal.

Given that you are about to hand over ~$100k, I would be pushing for a total discount closer to $5k. Just my opinion and not necessarily based on any facts...

You need to go in and negotiate in person armed with invoice prices etc. There also seems to be 1k dealer cash assistance on 2013 models

Land Rover Darien has been very good so far. The only dealer to respond with pricing in an email and put their offer in writing (what I shared with you earlier). So far they have offered $4,000 off (4%) to which I responded with the MSRP I got from both my builds that added up to $99,960 and an offer to pay an even $95,000 (cash or financed, depending on financing terms). I'm waiting for their answer.

I'd really like to buy the vehicles from Darien, since they are the ones that treated me the best so far (only email interactions).

I am trying to work something out in advance so that when we get there our vehicles are delivered as soon as possible. I plan to stop buy The dealer during our house hunting trip but would really like to put some money down ASAP to order my specific builds with time.
