I'm really close to pulling the trigger on on LR4. After test driving the vehicle I fell in love with it but was wondering if some of you could help me out here. I do a lot of highway travel every day and am wondering if this is the right vehicle for that type of travel. Is the LR4 a good choice vehicle for me? I realize that's a very broad question but is anyone using the vehicle for that type of travel on a daily basis?
LR3/4 is an excellent highway/freeway cruiser. I love the long drives and have been doing it for 28 some years with various cars/SUVs. But My 2006 LR3 HSE, then 2013 V8, and now 2016.5 SCV6 Landmark have by far been the most pleasurable, solid, safe, and stable vehicles out of everything that I have ever owned, driven or have been driven in.
I made my move from NY to LA in my 06 LR3, and basically had this grin on my face pretty much all the way thru those 3500 or so miles

I remember the drive and the rig being so much fun, smooth, and safe. And this was on not so good stock goodyears as I didn't even know about the tires and their effect on the ride quality that much back in the day.
All that heft, the IBF (world's only one), near 6k pounds, and the lower center of gravity contributes to that safe and sound, being inside an insulated tank feeling. And, no matter how cushy and luxurious the ride maybe, that feeling is not available even on the flagship RR (past or present) simply due to lack of IBF.
A couple of years ago, me and a bunch of friends (total five of us) went on a long drive in my '13 V8 hitting various freeways and highways. And I remember one of my, critical-on-everything friend, sitting on the second row left seat (right behind the driver, me) told me that he had sat in many SUVs in the past and that he had stayed away from purchasing an SUV as his daily driver because of the not so comfortable ride quality compared to his sedan(s) but this had been by far the smoothest ride he had ever had or felt in an SUV. And he was practically sitting right obove the left-rear wheel
All this despite LR' apparent attempts to slightly detune and de-luxurise the LR3/4 (whether its sound proofing or insulation material's quality and quantity) in order to maintain its distance from its flagship model.
Keep in mind that LR3, at least in my personal experience of six years of ownership before moving to '13 LR4, has a softer suspension setup so even with ****** rubber, the truck rides pretty smooth and floats over small frequent bumps.
LR4 on the other hand has a firmer suspension setup and therefore the tires you choose have quite a bit of impact on the ride quality, and I learned that first hand recently with my '16 landmark by moving from the stock 20"/Prellis to 19"/contact 4x4 to now 19"/TerrainContacts.
