Not possible (I asked...), I'm afraid the infotainment system of earlier model years is incompatible with InControl apps. It's not just a matter of updating the software.

Agree more than software. But thought maybe swap of head unit or maybe some sort of adapter for the new technology. Would love to see difference inside the dash/nav compared to 13 to 15 MY. BMW typically offers retro fit kits. With LR always behind the technology curve I just thought I'd see what anyone might have found out.

Find totaled '15 and swap head units :) :)

I have incontrol apps in our discovery sport. At first glance I thought it might be a pretty neat feature but it turned out to be sluggish, cumbersome and frustrating. Even if more apps were available, like pandora, I'd still play pandora and all other music through Bluetooth or wire.
Incontrol apps were not very well thought out and is another major fail by LR in the infotainment department.

I have used it to check my calendar a few times which is kind of useful but since it's my wife's daily driver...meh.

If one is buying a new LR vehicle and wonder if in control apps are worth it... I give a resounding no. However if you don't care about the microscopic amount it adds to your payment and/or want to risk waiting to see if they update it for improvements...lots of improvements... Then hey, go for it. But for me, I will rarely use it going forward as it performs now.

The incontrol remote and protect is pretty cool though...

Overall the new infotainment is nicer than the old. It looks slick and seemed really up to date at first but with more time spent with it, it's still way behind. The uconnect in my RAM is light years ahead in usability and function. Pretty disappointed but it's not the reason why we bought the Disco but it's painful to see a premium brand vehicle be so far behind in that tech when it's such a huge part of vehicle ownership these days.

There is one navigation app available on incontrol apps but you have to pay for it. It's supposed to be pretty good but I'm not sure how much better than the stock navigation it is?

Again, it only adds a small portion to your payment or lease amount. And there is a chance that they can update this thing. I'm just saying as of right now it is not what it's cracked up to be.

If it was me doing it over again knowing what I know now. It would be a very tough choice because taking the chance that it would be upgraded is a gamble.

Since I do have it I am holding out hope that they upgrade the functionality to match the uconnect via mobile suite of apps that's pretty seamless and works well.

Good luck!
