Using IIDTool to raise the height of your Lr4

I did most of the same things than Umberto and David.

Leveled my truck (more or less) and increased the overall ride height.
Updated my instrument cluster to the 2012 and newer version (mine is a 2010).
Enabled the digital speedo

A couple of you have mentioned changing the height of the truck using this tool. I have also noticed that the "off road" position in the specs has been 9"'or so. But in the literature for the 2014 they say "up to 12 inches". Has it always been 12" and you use this tool to raise it above 9"? Or is the 12" new with 2014?

Dan you made the comment you had to jailbreak your iPhone.

Can anyone comment on this? Is the app not in the App Store?

No need to jailbreak your iPhone and this is not a jailbreak of the truck either. You can look at it as a diagnostic tool like many others.

In the case of the IIDTool, you're simply given access to options that already exist on the truck, they simply haven't been enabled for the US. Some of these could be taken care of by the dealer but I understand that they are not too keen on it. And yes there's a disclaimer stating that if anything happens it's the user problem and not Gap-Diagnostic but that is with everything and very logical.

The truck can extend the lift on its own (and then some more) if you get it stuck on something which is why it says "up to".

The IIDTool allows me and others to add temporary or permanent lift to all the settings, which means that if the truck would be in super extended mode (12") and you had a lift programmed, you'd be at 12"+the amount of lift...

I'm using a minimal lift mainly for looks due to the larger tires, level the front and back and to help (a little) with clearing the frame horns in the front wheel wells. The lift is for all modes (lowered, normal, off-road, extended and super extended).

No jailbreak needed. It is an approved app for iPhone and iPad.

Picking back up on this thread...
What is the best way to raise the truck? I've seem someone use the tool, to raise the truck to +10 then use the truck controls to raise the truck to "off road" mode. Lowered to normal height then used the tool -10 returning the truck to "normal" or stock height.

Does it make most sense to just use the tool to raise the truck to a desired height? Speaking of height, what is a "safe" off road height using the tool leaving room for extended/super extended mode? Put aside terrain. I ask this question as a caution since it's not recommended to run the truck at super extended mode, for example, iid tool height maxed out for an extended period of time, especially with a full rack of camping equipment, etc...

Also, can it be assumed if using the tool, raising it to the max +value would equal super extended mode?

I've only used the tool to raise/lower, read defaults, I do see how one can change certain settings/configuration etc.... But haven't done much more. I know the tool gives "live" height readings but not too reliable I typically get a "NA" reading.

Anyway, my question which is what is a safe "height" for off road, should I just use the tool or a combination of tool and truck and if tool what is an optimal height putting aside terrain and leaving room for super extended for emergency situations?

the IIdtool will allow you to program a replacement key fob as well. I lost one of my original key fobs. bought a rang rover 2010 fob off ebay. I programmed it with the IIDtool to make it work with my 2010 lr4. About a year later my daughter found the lost key in her closet inside a pair of shoes she was going to throw away.

I use the IIDtool now only for faults and such but the LLAMS tool I use allows for on the fly choices of +30, +50 or +70 at the rear axle. Now, the idea behind it is that you can choose the extra height BEFORE it's needed, like to help getting through something, then lower it back again. It's like getting "super extended" but before you're grounded which in turn, may help with not getting grounded in the first place.

You have to be smart though and not just stay up that high or else you overwork the compressor and it will shut down/fault.

You also have to realize that at the upper limits of height, you have no more suspension travel downward.

Conversely, the tool also allows for lowering further to help getting into a garage or making the vehicle more stable while camping in a roof tent.
